The presentation on Visual Literacy by Joseph Lenashke is very interesting. I can see how the visual literacy can help students in learning language. For of all the material that I would design should apply techniques Mr. Lenashke used that are: focus on the learner environment, present the learner point of view on the target language associate with pictures the learner choose, and learner should think of a way to make photo or story telling through pictures not to take or copy and paste pictures.
He also mentioned about teacher should lead student to notice details from the environment they are in and focus what they can reflect the pictures and the language. This is very effective since I tried on my lesson on next Monday that I found an advertisement on how to shine your hair with the specific shampoo that they want to advertise. The advertisement goes on with how people who have talent in music even she is deaf, she still can become a violist. At the end the word come up with YOU CAN SHINE WITH THIS SHAMPOO. This gave me the opportunity to compare the word SHINE in English and its meaning and the Thai word with is not really the same. This lead to a useful discussion in class and we learn that Thai word and English word can create different meaning and concepts.
I am still fasinating with his tools and presentation and it would take me a while in trying to apply the other two techniques, point of view which create conflict, pictures details and make photo to describe your understanding.
One thing I have to keep in mind is to keep it simple and create value to Thai language as they can use in their everyday life.
