As mentioned in my project plan for course one that I will introduce the translation tools on the web to help students in drafting and writing short essays. After implementing in Thai Native 1, 2 and 3, I found out that translation tool is quite a useful tool in helping student searching for the appropriate word and creating the understanding on the reading material. Regarding the writing, it does not seem to be an effective method since students have to re-edit the translated passage again. Some students find that they don't like to use it because the translation tool does not provide the appropriate or correct word in the content they need. Some students are able to search for variety of words and pick up the one that they think it is suitable for their text.
This exercise needs to be implemented on a regular basis so that students can develop research skills in finding the appropriate vocabulary. I notice that students who have language competency are able to use this tool more comfortable than the struggling learner.
