As a global society I think we need to rethink about copyright laws especially for educational purpose. I agree that student should acknowledge about the existing copyright practice in the society. At the same time, copyright should not restrict students from using some video, music and pictures for the educational purpose. My role as educators I think we should educate students about the copyright law and the fair use. Student should not take it for grant to use other people work without recognition. They should know about creative common legal code and free web-sites that they can download pictures, music and video. On the other hand students should know that they can copyright their work too in order to protect themselves for being copy without any permission.
I think ISBs AUP has already taken these issue into account and the outline is clear and should be taught to students. As I read through the web-site regarding the copyright issues, it seems that each organization is trying to draw their own judgement of what is the copyright and fair use for their organization.
