
Since last year I have been trying to embedded techonology tools into my lesson and I have found it very useful. My students now are able to use many kinds of translation tools in order to compose their own writing as well as to understand the reading material in target language (Thai). I think a literate person today must be able to move comfortably among various and interactive information sources. My students realize that the translation tool does not give the right answer and they need to adjust and correct it in order to compose the correct one. Second thing that I notice in my class is that students would always associate video they watched with the vocabularies that they have learnt through that video. In the old days I used to have them read from paper and discuss about it but they hardly remembered the words or the story that connected with it. There are concepts related to vocabulary learning that are bigger than meanings of individual words. This awareness of word concepts is crucial for building the skills necessary for students to learn words when they are reading independently. This is why learning through pictures will provide information as well as feeling and stimulation to remember the new vocabulary. The third thing I think technology tool is helping me so much is that I can differentiate the lesson and focus on group by group. One group can work on the computer while I teach the other.
